Favorite luxury foundation?

As a makeup enthusiast and collector I do have many products to choose from. As far as foundations ( and other products as well) I rotate between high end and drugstore and it is no secret that if you are going to spend on a beauty product foundation is where you should put your money. I have plenty of drugstore foundations that I use frequently but the luxe feel of the higher end foundations is something special. Of course there are some formulas that work better than others for each person, but generally speaking, there is something to be said for Chanel, Dior, YSL and many other high end brands. I personally am a Chanel girl, I would love to hear what your favorite foundation is!

Beauty and the beach

It has been over a month since I posted, mostly because of being really busy with my kids but I missed the blogging world. I stay busy instablogging, but I felt like I was missing out on the other beauty sector. Since it is a long holiday weekend and most will be spending it outdoors and possibly at the beach, I figured a beach beauty post was in order. How many of you do some sort of beauty routine even for a beach day  ( my hand is up)? Skin care is a necessity for outdoor life for me and it starts with a clean slate and lots of sunscreen. I have been loving the Korres face sunscreen this year, smells so tropical and is not greasy at all. After sunscreen I usually go with a tinted moisturizer or luminizer stick just for a small amount of shimmer, and lastly for my face is a lip product. I usually put a zinc based product all over my lips and then follow with a nicer lip shine or lipstick. As for my hair, my go-to is Weleda Rosemary hair oil. I have been using this for years and just love it, rub into my hair and tie in a bun. Simple summer beauty ideas that I hope you enjoy, I would love to hear your favorite beach products.

Gray away

I wanted to share a great product with all of you. Let me first say that this product was sent to me for review, however if I do not like a product I will not post about it. That said, let me tell you about this amazing product. Gray away is a root touch up product for anyone that needs to cover their grays between haircolrings.  If you are like me and usually have horrible roots before it is time for your next haircolor, then you really need to try this. I was very anxious to sample this as I have this problem every 3 1/2 weeks, it is not time for a full color but my roots are so bad I can’t even wear my hair up. So needless to say I could not wait to pop this product on my hair. Directions say apply to clean styled hair so I did just that. There are two formulas, a spray and a magnetic powder that comes with a powder puff applicator. I tried both, and had amazing results. This is one of those ” where have you been all these years” products that I am so excited to now have. Application was very simple, I did spray it straight on my scalp the first time, and that was not pretty, but I was able to blend it out easily. After I placed the gray away over all the roots that were up front and center I ran a wide tooth plastic comb through to blend. I will say some of the product transferred to my comb, so I will put my hair up or wash before putting my head on the pillow. I have to give this product the highest recomendation because it really does cover the grays and gives extra time between hair coloring.

Beauty Project

I had to blog about this amazing gift my daughter made me for my birthday. Not only do I love cosmetics and beauty, but I am a huge fan of crafts and sewing. I would like to think that my kids have picked up my love for DIY and projects. When my oldest daughter started enjoying makeup as much as me, and the coming home with beautiful DIY gifts,I knew it was rubbing off. I love everything she has made, but her latest project was amazing!! She has been doing string art and made this gorgeous sign for my makeup area, it is so perfect.

This has made such a beautiful addition to my vanity area.

A hint of color

I am posting these amazing cream shadows in time for spring and summer makeup. Most of the cream shadows in my collection are from Chanel but I also have a few from Dior. I will say both have a very similar formula, not to mention exact packaging. These shadows go on very sheer and leave a light shimmer color on your eye. They are so easy to wear, with or without liner and really give a finished look that is effortless. I always apply an eyeshadow base and I have often used 2 of these at a time to add more color. I have used my finger to apply as well as a brush, either is fine depending how you want to apply.  These shadows are a must for spring and summer, they add just the right amount of color and shimmer to glam up any day.

Huda Beauty craze

I am pretty sure everyone has heard of Huda Kattan and her fabulous empire Huda Beauty. Her lashes have become huge in Dubai where she is based and now the lip contours which sold out so quickly!  When I heard that Huda beauty was launching in the US I jumped at purchasing some stuff. I ended up ordering the lashes in Gissele which are gorgeous and her number one selling lash, and four lip contours. I purchased these within an hour of them going up on the Sephora site and they were sold out quickly. The lip contour colors are beautiful as expected.i purchased 2 trophy wife pencils because I love the color, trendsetter, and bombshell. I would love to hear who else loves Huda Beauty.

Mother’s Day glam

One of the easiest ways to take your makeup to the next level is adding false lashes.  Lashes really make your eyes pop and have become a staple for most beauty gurus these days. I absolutely love lashes and they are so easy to apply with a bit of practice. Some people are frightened off with the application but it is very simple. Finding a lash you like that will fit your style, I suggest going with a thin simple style for new users. Test the size as most need some trimming on the sides, I usually put a dab of glue on the back of my hand to start getting tacky so it is not so liquidy. I think the biggest mistake for anyone new to lashes is applying when the glue is fresh out of the tube, the lashes will not stick and will slide all over. Once the glue is tacky, I run the band through the glue and fan dry a bit more then stick the band and press corners in. So get some lashes and glam up your Sunday🌹 Happy Mother’s Day to all.
I have been using the Dodo lashes in #207 they are $5.00 a pair for 100% mink lashes that can be worn up to 25 times. They are really great.  If purchasing you can use my coupon code “grownupglam” for 5% offDodo lashes

Bronze up!

Spring is here, sun is shining and flowers are blooming. It is time to get your tan on! Gone for me are the years of baking in the sun, I am not sure what it is but I just can not tolerate laying out to get a tan, nor do I want the sun damage. I do however want to have a nice glow, so along with my Jergens self tanner which I am loving, I am crazy for Bronzers! They are the easiest was to get an instant glow or contour anywhere you wish. Adding bronzer to your overall look will just give that extra glow that will make you look sun kissed without the damaging sunrays. So what are you waiting for, get your bronze on☀️

Eyeshadow Organizing

Thought I would post about my ZPalette experience. Many of you have heard of these empty makeup  palettes that have a magnetic bottom to hold many types of pans. I really wanted to give these a try since I had so many single pan eye shadows. Why did I not do this sooner?? This has saved so much space and has made it so easy to see all my shadow singles. I am not going to lie, depotting pans is not fun, I destroyed quiete a few shadows in the process, but the end result is worth it.  I organized my shadows by colors, some people do it by brand, it is all personal preference. These palettes come in different sizes which is nice, I used the extra large. They are so sturdy and stack nicely, a definite for makeup organizing. I purchased mine on Amazon  for about $20.00 usd each.
